Good thoughts requested

My friend's toddler was officially diagnosed with swine flu yesterday. Today she took a turn for the worse and was rushed into hospital. Any good thoughts/wishes/prayers/good luck charms would be much appreciated.

While the homemade caramel apple cinnamon rolls are cooking...

I have never been sexually assaulted. I have been assaulted physically cut for details/potential triggers )

I've never had nightmares about the incident, and I don't have any triggers resulting from it either. I consider myself extremely lucky because of this. I am well aware, however, that many, many people - men and women alike - *do* have triggers, which can screw up their lives for weeks, even months.

When I started writing fic, I didn't particularly want to put warnings on my fics. But what about ME? I'd think. What about that fic I spent ages on which will be OMGRUINED because I have to put an EVILEVILWARNING on it? LIFE IS NOT FAIR D:

But I did it anyway. Because it's the right thing to do.

Seriously. I'm not trying to be condescending here. It's the right thing to do. What is actually more important? Your fic, which a bunch of people will probably love, and the feedback will make you feel all fuzzy and warm and you'll be so, so pleased with yourself?

Or the person who was triggered by your fic, and whose life was turned into a nightmare for weeks?

Maybe you think it's your fic. You don't know this person who's been triggered by your fic, so what does it matter?

So then what if you triggered someone very close to you? And you saw, first-hand (or as much as you can over the internet), how it affected them. Would you feel the same?

I'm by no means saying that I'm perfect - I can be bitchy and self-entitled with the best of them. But if you can't even be bothered to go as far as putting a simple 'Warning: I don't warn' on your LJ userinfo or your website because you feel you're being censored (which you're not - no one's told you not to write the triggery stuff you like writing) or because you think you're the only one who matters, then, frankly, you're coming across as a lousy human being.

You may not be a lousy human being. But you're sure coming across as one.

Heroes Request

Could someone recommend some good Matt/Mohinder or Sylar/Mohinder fics? The longer the better? No WIPs, please :)

I don't really slash anyone else, but other Heroes slash pairings are welcomed if the fic is JUST THAT AWESOME.

:D

Actually, it's quite ironic that Mohinder is in both of the pairings I slash, because HE'S SUCH AN IDIOT. Oh, well.

Heroes Season Three

Very deep and meaningful observations:

They keep putting Claire in entirely too much make-up that's also entirely the wrong colour.

*shakes fist*

Last night, while washing the dog, I pulled the muscles at the bottom of my left shoulder blade.

Needless to say, I haven't gone into work today. Right now I'm burning season three of Heroes so I have something new to keep me occupied, because sitting at the computer all day is so not an option. As soon as it's done, I'm laying flat on my back and watching TV. Thank God for DVD players that play .avi files.

Quick comments on yesterday's Nuke - boys were very cute, Jake was awesome. There should've been a kiss. Casey and Ali don't even bore me to tears anymore - they piss me off something chronic. The reveal of Guest Star was soooo funny - what is he, a Bond villain?

Sylar fans?

I kinda wanna get up to date with Sylar, but don't want to watch all of Heroes. I've seen seasons one (awesome) and two (um), and when I saw the opening two-parter of season three, my interest just nose dived and I haven't seen it since. Is there anyone out there who has just the Sylar scenes from season three for my perusal? Or knows where I can get them?

*prays*

Thank you.

Oh my God, you guys, I went LINE DANCING. And I got to ride there and back in a CONVERTIBLE (shut up. I've never even sat in one before).

LINE DANCING. And it was fun, and a good workout, and I really enjoyed it, and it didn't cost the Earth. Do you know how very, very hard it is for me to find any form of exercise that meets all this criteria? I am not a gym person. I am not a running person (both make me miserable). I have no room to exercise to any work out DVDs or games. But this fits me absolutely perfectly. I am so keeping this up.

"This simple feeling..."

Slashiest scene in TOS Trek movies? Y/N?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQIis--E8m0

Or it could be this?

For all its badness (although honestly, it wasn't as horrible as I remember), The Motion Picture definitely brings the slash.

Also, Deforest Kelley's beard is terrifying.

Comment on The Final Frontier:

He nerve pinched a horse. A *HORSE*. Trek fandom will never be as cracky as the canon.

*

The Undiscovered Country is still endless amounts of fun and is for me the most entertaining of TOS Trek movies.

I pretty much posted just so I could use my new Uhura icon. You know she'd kick ALL your asses.

/random

The Search for Spock is soooooo much better than The Wrath of Khan. It has its problems (lame baddies, WHERE DID UHURA GO?), but it's much more interesting and emotionally it's a more satisfying movie.
