New SGA Music Vid: The Writer, Rated 15

Well, hey! It's my first completed SGA vid!

This is a joint Christmas present for [info]nel_ani and [info]dvswraatins - it's joint because I suck and my muse sucks and this was all that was happening. Thankfully you gals are practically the same person anyway ;D MERRY CHRISTMAS! *gropes and smooches*

Title: The Writer
Music: Dead Already AKA The theme from American Beauty, by Thomas Newman
Format: WMV
Size: 13MB
Spoilers: SGA from the pilot through ep 2.14, Grace Under Pressure. The JF movie Farewell to Harry and the DH movie Century Hotel.
Summary: Constructed reality. An aspiring writer lacks inspiration until he starts a part-time job at an old movie theatre...but from obsession comes jealousy.
Pairing: Implied McKay/Sheppard.
Warnings: m/m kissing and nudity, but nothing graphic. In England I'd rate it a 15.
Notes: Many, many thanks to [info]nel_ani who practically spent more time on her present then I did! LOL! Seriously, without her own time and effort, this would have taken much longer to finish and wouldn't have looked half as good. You ROCK! *smooch*

Hi! I downloaded it and will watch it in a sec but I wanted to say, I stole bandwidth. :( Sometimes when I try to save .wmv files and right click, they turn into text documents. the only way I've found it works is if I click directly on the link. so, do you or anyone else have any ideas I can do save .wmv files without stealing bandwidth?

*waits for stolen download to finish*

If not, I at least wanted you to know that I'm being a bad person.

Hey there!

Wow, thanks so much for being honest :) That sucks about the .txt files. Have you tried a download manager, like Getright? You can download a free version here. Basically, once it's installed you enter the address of whatever you want to download, and voila!

Great video! Loved it! I wanted a happy ending but it's lovely just the way it is. Very clever idea, great use of music, and thank you very much for letting us all share in the loveliness.

If, instead of saying, calmly, "some nudity," you said, "David Hewlett! Naked! David Hewlett's actual naked ass right this way!!!" you'd likely get more, and more enthusiastic, feedback.

Very nice!

I like the pacing a lot, and the choice of music to vid too was quite good; that Thomas Newman really is brilliant, isn't he?

The only distracting bit is that really odd angle the naked guy on the right has on the bed. The "hide the naughty bits" twist made my pelvis ache when it came on screen. Not your fault, obviously, it's just slash-unfriendly raters that force that kind of thing.

Hi I was hoping you'd be able to upload it somewhere else for some reason it won't let me download it even with the get right download manager. I thought it was my comp so I got a friend to try on hers and thats not working either. I'd love to see it, only if its ok with you though:)

Ya done good, girl. Seriously, the story was wonderfully told. And the notion of someone watching Rodney's struggles in the jumper as a black and white movie kind of makes me go "Oooh!" And of course, it helps to have great source material. When DH just sticks his butt right out there and says "Here! Have a look!" it's hard to go wrong...

Oh thanks for sharing this! I didn't know that "Farewell to Harry" movie, but now I really want to see it! Joe's so handsome in it!
Anyway that vid was awesome, i loved the parts in black and white and the music fitted perfectly! Brilliant work!

This vid is incredibly cool and original. The constructed reality theme worked so good.

Things that made me go ooh/squee!/insert other noise of praise here:
- The exposition part of the vid (first 30 seconds or so), with the black frames inbetween. And then the image of opening the typewriter in tune with the beat. Worked like a charm.
- The black/white slightly!crazy!Rodney scenes are so good. They really have that olskool movie feel to them.
- The slap on the head was timed so.well.
- OMGWHALE! I love that scene.
- In-vul-nerable *dances*
